Catamaran Resort Hotel is huge and it's a great place to get ready, have portraits taken, take in the beach views and even the option for your guests to stay overnight and enjoy the resort in its entirety.
There are a variety of suites where to get ready and still have jaw dropping views of Mission Bay. This Resort is HUGE and you and your partner can literally get ready on opposite sides of the resort without having the chance to accidentally run into each other before your first look or ceremony.
With the resort being so large, it offers a variety of places for portraits. Whether it's in one of the courtyards covered with tropical plants or the gazebo and let's not forget about the beach. You actually have two beach options! One is right on the resort overlooking Mission Bay and the other is walking distance across the hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Many couples that get married at Catamaran fall in love with the venue because of the option to get married on the private beach that overlooks Mission Bay. There is also an option to get married in a gazebo but that view doesn't come with the beach, instead the gazebo is nestled in the tropical garden outside. You can always be safe and have a 'plan b' to hold the ceremony indoor and still have views of the bay.
There are definitely options as to where to host cocktail hour for your guests to enjoy. If you decide to have a beach ceremony, it makes for a sweet transition for guests to walk on the other side of the pedestrian path to enjoy an outdoor cocktail hour. There is also the option to host cocktail hour indoors in the foyer just outside the Aviary ballroom.
Catamaran is a big resort and with that come lots of options with where to host your reception.
Indoor Reception Options:
This ballroom has the biggest guest count. It has Polynesian style ballroom with a wooden cathedral ceiling and gold chandeliers. This ballroom does not have views of Mission Bay.
A more modern style ballroom that is light and airy compared to Kon Tiki Ballroom. This ballroom has an open air balcony with a panoramic view. You and your guests will be amazed by the views of Mission Bay especially at sunset.
A more intimate space that still has views of Mission Bay and an open air balcony. This space has the foyer included which is nice to have as a cocktail hour option.
There are two locations that can host your outdoor reception. The South Lawn can host up to 300 guests and the North Lawn can host up to 1,000 guests. Both locations have nice views of Mission Bay that will impress your guests whether they are visiting from out of town or are locals.
Even though by the time you make your grand exit the views of the bay will most likely be pitch black, you can still take advantage of asking your guests to cool down from the dancing and lineup outside on the sand with sparklers for the perfect nighttime photo.
