Fall Engagement Pictures
A few weeks ago, we took a trip to Chicago to photograph Julia's and Luis's engagement session. We had met this lovely couple at their sister's wedding this past May. Honestly, we feel in love with their whole family. When Julia and Luis asked us to photograph their engagement session, we were over the moon happy! The session took place at Julia's parents stunning-cozy home. You guys, they have horses, chickens and the cutest pups. These fall engagement pictures were a little bit chilly, but it was worth every second with this lovely couple.
From julia and Luis:
"Luis and I met in college my freshman year and his sophomore year. We both went to the gym quite often and always saw each other there but never talked until we ended up at a mutual friend’s house one night. We instantly recognized each other and started talking right away and exchanged numbers.
We started going out together a lot and casually hung out a few times throughout the next two years. Then my junior year I studied abroad for both semesters and we lost contact for that entire year. Luis ended up doing five years at college so when I was coming back for my senior year we ended up living in a house together with four other friends.
One night, us and our roommates all went out together and Luis and I danced together. After that night it was a little bit weird between us because we realized that we liked each other but we were too shy to bring it up. However we finally did end up telling each other that we had feelings for each other and decided to give dating a chance!
Things became serious between us really quick because we both had that cliche moment of just knowing that we were meant to be together.
A year and a half into dating Luis took me hiking in Devils Lake, Wisconsin which we went to quite often so I didn’t really think anything of it. Though I just had a feeling that he might ask me and each time we stopped to admire the view I anxiously waited for him to get down on one knee.
One point we were sitting at for almost an hour and I thought for sure that was going to be it but then he just said “alright we can keep going” and I thought to myself “okay, so it’s not happening today.” But then at the next point we stopped at he turned to me and told me how much he loved me and got down on one knee. I instantly started crying and of course said yes and we sat there for about half an hour just laughing and enjoying the moment. Once we got back to bottom of the trail both of our families were there waiting for us and we went out to lunch with everyone to celebrate!
The qualities that I love the most about Luis: the fact that he never ceases to make me laugh. We are honestly laughing all the time together, it’s so much fun! The second is how hardworking he is. He is so humble about it but I have never met anyone who works so hard in so many different ways, whether it’s work or school or just achieving a personal goal, and doesn’t even ever complain about things. He is also so close with his family and it’s great to see him be actually friends with his sister and having a really close and loving relationship with his parents.
From Luis: My favorite quality about Julia is how caring and lovable of a person she is. Whenever I’m feeling down, she doesn’t even have to say anything to cheer me up. Her being near me just makes me feel so secure and instantly makes me forget about my bad days. Her positive outlook on life and how caring she is of others (even those she doesn’t know, like the people I yell at when I have road rage) is what makes me fall in love with her more and more. Additionally, I love how close she is with her family and how their interactions are always positive whether in person or on the phone—this makes me excited to start our own family."
